From almost anywhere in Colombo you can see it. A green-and-pink stem with a lotus bud on top rises about 350 metres above Beira Lake in the Fort district. The Lotus Tower is a telecommunications mast first. Since September 2022, though, visitors have been able to ride the lift to an observation deck. From there you look down on the whole city, from the harbour cranes to the Galle Face seafront.
It is worth an hour or two on a Colombo day, especially if you have not seen the city from above. If you have already watched the sunset from a rooftop bar, or the sky is heavy with cloud, you can skip it. Tickets are timed and non-refundable, and grey weather leaves you paying for a view of mist.

The observation deck and Pixel Bloom
The deck wraps around the bud at the top of the tower. Entry runs in 30-minute time slots. You walk round at your own pace, looking out over the lake, the Fort skyline and the Indian Ocean.
The ticket site sells the deck on its own or as a combo with Pixel Bloom, an interactive digital-art room that suits families with children. The tower also has the Blue Orbit revolving restaurant, banquet halls, suites, the Aqua Bay relaxation space and the Majestic Pride casino. Those are separate bookings on the tower’s own site.
Tickets and hours
Tickets are sold on the official site, tickets.colombolotustower.lk. In October 2026 it listed:
- Foreign visitors: USD 20 per adult and USD 10 per child, for either the observation deck or the combo. The dollar figure is a guide; you pay in rupees at the checkout rate.
- Sri Lankan citizens and residents: LKR 500 ($1.51 · convert) (adult) and LKR 200 ($0.60 · convert) (child) for the deck, LKR 350 ($1.05 · convert) and LKR 200 ($0.60 · convert) for Pixel Bloom alone, and LKR 850 ($2.56 · convert) and LKR 400 ($1.21 · convert) for the combo.
- Ages: adults are 10 and over, children 3 to 10, and under-3s go free.
Bookings open three months ahead. Each ticket covers one date, one time slot and a single entry, and it cannot be refunded or transferred. Bring your passport if you are paying the foreign rate. The Sri Lankan rate needs a valid NIC or driving licence; without one you pay the international price. Arrive 15 minutes before your slot. Latecomers get in only if there is room.
The tower’s site gives opening hours of 9 am to 9 pm on weekdays and 9 am to 10 pm at weekends. Hours and prices do change, so look at the ticket site on the day you book.
When to go
Recent visitors (2025–26) say late afternoon is the time to choose: you see the city in daylight, then watch the lights come on. They also warn that it is windy on the deck and that the lift queues can be slow. Leave some slack before dinner plans.

Getting there and what to pair it with
The tower stands on D. R. Wijewardene Mawatha, on the edge of Beira Lake in Colombo 1. A tuk-tuk or taxi-app ride from central Colombo is short. Use the meter or the app, or agree the fare before you get in.
It sits between several of the city’s main sights, so it slots easily into a day. Gangaramaya Temple and the Galle Face Green seafront are short rides away. So are the crowded lanes of Pettah Market and the Colombo National Museum. Going late in the day lets you do those first and finish at the tower for the evening view.
